Cliff’s background is in College Lecturing (Art and Art history) as well as Film and TV Production Design. His first degree is in Sculpture (Middlesex University 1985). Cliff has a knack of explaining complicated topics in simple, direct and understandable terms, is passionate about TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and wants to share his passion with others.
Cliff’s interest in TCM began when he studied the Oriental exercise systems Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Do-in. While practicing these he became increasingly drawn to the Oriental approach to the healing arts and, in 2002, he gained qualifications in Shiatsu. He then went on to study other body-work systems and related subjects including sports massage, hot stones massage, reflexology, Biomedicine; (Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology), Nutrition and a number of other similar investigations and techniques. In 2010 he qualified as an acupuncturist and in Western Medical Acupuncture (BAWMA, Liverpool Medical Institute) then TCM Acupuncture (Cheltenham 2013).
Cliff‘s engagement with Total Therapy began in 2015 while attending our Tui-na classes. Of this time he said; “I was so impressed with the depth of knowledge displayed on the course that I started to attend other Total Therapy classes” Since this time Cliff has attended our Masters Acupuncture, Accelerated tendon healing, Japanese Hara diagnosis, Advanced Cupping , Advanced Gua-Sha, Moxibustion therapy, Magnet therapy, Chinese bloodletting, Plumb blossom hammer, Electro acupuncture and Phlebotomy blood collection courses.
Cliff has recently began writing and illustrating an Acupuncture text book. The book has an interactive element similar to the anatomy colouring-in books used by medical students. Aspects of the book are used to support learning on the courses he teaches.
