Overview

This course introduces practitioners to Dr Ying’s abdominal diagnosis-guided acupuncture system, a method rooted in classical theory but refined over decades of clinical practice and teaching. You’ll learn how abdominal diagnosis can guide point selection and treatment planning, moving away from guesswork toward a structured, repeatable clinical process.

The day will also cover Dr Ying’s Cooling-Heating Needle Technique, giving you a practical alternative to traditional thermal needling methods for producing clear warming or cooling effects in treatment.

About the Instructor

Dr Ying Wang studied acupuncture at Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from 1987 to 1992, followed by nine years in clinical practice at Jinan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has taught and practised in the UK since 2001, and in 2006 founded the Dr Ying Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment Centre and the Dr Ying Acupuncture Research Centre in Lowestoft, Suffolk.

He holds a wide range of academic and clinical appointments internationally, including Professor of Acupuncture at the UK College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Distinguished Clinical Specialist at the Swiss University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and consultant and advisory roles with TCM associations in France and Brazil. He was among the first group of Distinguished Clinical Experts appointed by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and has been recognised as one of the first overseas nationally recognised masters of Chinese medicine.

Dr Ying’s clinical work builds on the abdominal diagnosis theory set out in the Nan Jing (Classic of Difficult Issues). He has developed this into a comprehensive abdominal diagnosis-guided acupuncture system that combines diagnosis and treatment into a single, standardised process, making point selection more precise and repeatable in practice. He is also known for the Cooling-Heating Needle Technique, an approach that produces clearer thermal therapeutic effects than the traditional Burning Mountain Fire and Penetrating Heaven Coolness methods.
