This course introduces the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture in the treatment of sports and musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries, both acute and chronic.

Participants will be introduced to the TCM theory of treating injuries, key transporting points and their functions, and a variety of needling techniques.

The training also covers the use of balms, herbal plasters, and other TCM approaches, alongside developing tailored treatment programmes. Attendees will gain practical experience in needling skills, learn protocols for treating muscles, joints, and ligaments, and take away treatment point protocols for a range of MSK and sports injuries.

Theoretical

  •  Introducing the physiology of TCM theories of points

You must consent to giving and receiving palpation, acupuncture and moxibustion.

This course is open to Qualified and Students of a full body acupuncture therapy (not microsystems).

Kevin Young – Bio
Kevin Young is Chartered Physiotherapist, Traditional Acupuncturist, Sports Therapist and Sport Massage Therapist. He also has a Diploma in Tui Na and a MSc in Lower limb musculoskeletal studies.

He has worked extensively in sports medicine/therapy and was team physio for Rams Rugby National 1 level and Maidenhead Rugby club for twenty five years. He also worked for Berkshire County U-20 rugby for 6 seasons, national team tours to the USA, Germany and Finland with Great Britain Lions American Football team and worked with the England Tae Kwon Do team in pre-tour training. He has experience as a cut man and cornerman for professional boxing, Thai Boxing and mixed martial arts.

Clinically he works in two Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy clinics using TCM, Acupuncture and Tui Na as his primary treatments. He worked as therapist and trustee to Arthritis Action charity for 15 years. He also lecture in Anatomy, Structural diagnosis and cadaver anatomy.
