Foundation (Year 1) Course:
This is perfect as the foundation for our Year 2 or another counseling course, but many people do this course to enable them to avoid taking on other people’s issues and give them a tool to separate from clients with emotional distress as well as exploring their own reactions to situations, while helping them resolve conflict more smoothly.

Emotional therapy is a form of counseling but unlike many psychotherapies it tries to locate the root cause and feelings that are trapped and not just look at the symptoms. Negative experiences can cause coping mechanisms to be put in place, which are not always useful much later after the event or in everyday life. Old events that aren’t fully experienced act as unprocessed emotions and if locked away can cause emotional pain and destructive cycles. Emotional Counselling releases the original cause and allows you to spot protective learnt behaviours that no longer serve you. Unlike a lot of counselling strategies, emotional therapy is not always client led and clients are taught to explore the issues in a supportive fashion, and not just to “let off some of the steam”, but to fully explore and clear out the issue. Clients therefore become independent and not dependent on the counsellor. The foundation course also discusses social ideas and behaviours which can cause you not to live life fully or be your true self and many of these are unconscious learnt behaviours which can be broken quickly allowing you to live life to the full and be truly authentic to yourself. This social self-defence is not taught anywhere else in the UK and is one of the key factors to preventing ongoing issues and changing your life.

Year 1 is a foundation only and does not qualify you to practice, but is an excellent starting point for helping you explore your own issues and obtain a greater understanding of psychotherapies. You will be practising with each other, which means that you will learn not only the therapy skills, but also feel what it is like from the clients’ point of view.

You will gain a foundation diploma in Emotional Therapy.

Students will be invited to attend year 2 on completion of year 1

Second Year (Year 2) Course:
This course explores the groundbreaking idea that the process of psychology and counselling is flawed and potentially incorrect. Using specialist ideas and techniques, we will explore the normalising of excess negative and positive ideas. The course also explores social rigidity and thoughts at a much deeper level to enable you to gain a more flexible mind, which enables you a much deeper understanding of life.

Our Year 2 course must be taken at least 1 year later than the Foundation course and is completed after successfully doing consultation hours under an appointed mentor followed by an assessment.

Reviews

“I attended the ‘Emotional Therapy Course’, in both Years One and Two! I found these courses to be excellent! As with all the courses I have attended with Total Therapy! The tutorials were interesting and the counselling sessions were emotionally charging. If you are interested in releasing your ‘inner-child’ then this course comes highly recommended!

“I have taken part in the Emotional Therapy course for a better understanding of clients. But also, what was very important, I got a better understanding of myself, people around me and new ways to grow not just in my practice but also as a person. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.”
Pavlina Fernandes Da Costa, Southport

“I attended this course after hearing about it from a friend. I was already a life coach and wanted to add to my skills so I could help people better. This course blew my mind, it has completely changed my life as therapist and as a person. The course takes you on a journey of self discovery, it encourages you to dig deep into your own story and make steps towards healing. This process is so valuable as it allows you to help your clients create bigger changes as you have already been through it yourself.
What really makes this course stand out is the teaching of the course and the team at Total Therapy. The booking process is easy with the option of spreading the payments. The course delivery is direct, clear and interactive. The communication is prompt and informative. Overall a great experience, I have since attended more courses with Total Therapy and plan to do more in the future. Thank you Total Therapy for facilitating my learning and healing.”

FAQS

Yes! You are very welcome to join us for this course.

Year 1 is a foundation and is not meant for practising on the public, after year 2 you may be asked to do case studies and if so, you will need student insurance which most therapy insurance companies, including Balens should be able to provide.

We can teach modules off the course as private sessions for individuals and groups. Please contact admin@total-therapy.org for further details.

This course is aimed at anyone with an interest in mental illness, counselling, or psychotherapies. This course is especially effective for bodywork therapists who, whilst practising treatments, may release emotions in their clients and not know how to assist them in safely dealing with these.
